The Alert Governor Kulongoski has indicated that he is eager to sign this bill into law and has ‘fast tracked’ the bill through the Oregon Senate. The Senate passed the bill (SB 2) on March 21st with every democrat and three republicans voting in favor. The bill, now HB 3526, is in the Oregon House of Representatives. Our legislators need to know there is serious opposition to granting special rights and preferential treatment to immoral behavior. In addition to granting a ‘right,’ where no ‘right’ exists, it purports to "protect" the "health, safety and morals" of the "inhabitants" of Oregon when in fact it does just the opposite. Granting special rights or privileges to immoral behavior elevates that behavior to acceptance. Sexual orientation is not like race, nor like sex. It is a choice. Why should a whole class of people have a legal right to impose that sexual lifestyle on others? Adulterers and fornicators dont ask for - nor are they afforded any such rights. Why should the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community receive legal privileges that no one else has? Acceptance leads to approval, the demise of morality, marriage and family, the well being of our children, and a functional social order.
